Topological Entropy of Formal Languages

In this thesis we will introduce topological automata and the topological entropy of a topological automaton, which is the topological entropy of the dynamical system contained in the automaton. We will use these notions to define a measure of complexity for formal languages. We assign to every language the topological entropy of the unique minimal topological automaton accepting it. We contrib...

Topological Entropy of Formal Languages

In this workwe shall consider a notion of complexity of formal languages L that is inspired by the concept of entropy from dynamical systems. More precisely, we shall define the topological entropy of L to be the exponential growth-rate of the restrictions of the Nerode congruence relation of L to words of length at most n. We shall show that the topological entropy of regular languages is alwa...

Entropy operator for continuous dynamical systems of finite topological entropy

In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.

TOPOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION FOR FUZZY REGULAR LANGUAGES

We present a topological characterization for fuzzy regular languages: we show that there is a bijective correspondence between fuzzy regular languages and the set of all clopen fuzzy subsets with finite image in the induced fuzzy topological space of Stone space (Profinite space), and then we give a representation of closed fuzzy subsets in the induced fuzzy topological space via fuzzy regular...

Topological entropy

1. Definitions and general properties. Let X be a compact topological space. Definition 1. For any open cover 31 of X let N(ñ) denote the number of sets in a subco ver of minimal cardinality. A subco ver of a cover is minimal if no other subcover contains fewer members. Since X is compact and 31 is an open cover, there always exists a finite subcover. To conform with prior work in ergodic theor...
